A RESTAURANT in north-east Portugal which barred its customers from using mobile telephones hasn't gone far enough. The ban was apparently enforced after a man had a racy conversation.

"He completely forgot that he was in a public place, everyone stopped to listen to the conversation which I can only say was really very sensual," restaurant owner Carlos Fernandes told the Correio da Manha.

He now asks diners to leave their mobile phones at the door, turn them off or, in case of an emergency, keep them on vibration mode.

COW reckons he should only allow conversations on speaker phone, so if a customer is rude enough to interrupt the peace of fellow diners they will at least know what he is talking about.
